Promoting and fostering relationships between the people and firefighting forces of the Metro Boston area since 1938

The Boston Sparks Association is a private, volunteer organization founded with the express purpose of encouraging and fostering fraternity and support among fire service professionals, retirees, families, advocates, and supporters. Our unique mission brings the fire service and the public together through operation of a fire museum and a fire incident rehab unit, both of which are sustained solely through monetary donations.

The Boston Sparks Association is a non-profit, tax-exempt, charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and is a registered Non-Profit Organization in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Donations are welcomed and appreciated, and are tax deductible as allowed by law.

What is a “Spark”?

A “spark”, or “fire buff”, is a person with considerable interest in firefighting and emergency services. Fire buffs may collect information about or promote local emergency services, raise money for them, or attend emergencies as bystanders. Our members come from all walks of life and share a common interest in celebrating fire history, firefighting operations and welfare, and fire service fraternity. Our organization is a proud member of the International Fire Buff Associates, Inc. (IFBA).

The Boston Fire Museum

The Boston Sparks Association operates and maintains the official Boston Fire Museum in a historic firehouse in the Seaport District of South Boston. The museum is rich with artifacts, exhibits, and features that tell the story of America’s first and oldest professional fire department.

A-10 Incident Support Unit

The Boston Sparks Association provides emergency scene rehab and canteen services to emergency responders in 35 cities and towns in the metro Boston area. The Unit’s three emergency response canteen vehicles provide support services at hundreds of emergency scenes and community events every year.

Birthday Parties and Facility Rentals

The historic firehouse at 344 Congress Street offers a unique and exciting setting for children’s birthday parties, corporate gatherings, meetings, and presentations. Birthday parties include interactive fire safety activities on the fire apparatus floor, and have proven to be very popular among children and their families.
